Claridge Coffee Table

The Claridge Coffee Table takes the same extraordinary cylindrical fretwork language of the Claridge side table and scales it to the full generous proportions of a living room centrepiece, a piece that brings the spirit of the great Art Deco hotel interiors directly into the heart of a room with a confidence and decorative richness that is simply unmatched in contemporary furniture design. The oval frame wraps continuously around the full perimeter of the piece in three horizontal bands, interrupted at regular intervals by the stepped geometric portal details that have become the signature of the Claridge family, each one a precise, right-angled form that anchors the flowing curves of the rings with a satisfying structural logic. From every angle the composition shifts and changes, new relationships between curve and rectangle revealing themselves as you move around the table, the bitumen silver finish catching the light with a cool, luminous quality that shifts between pale champagne and deeper pewter throughout the day. Dark wood tops both the upper surface and the generous lower shelf, the rich, near-black grain of the timber creating a dramatic contrast with the pale silver work that surrounds it, warm against cool, natural against crafted, dark against light.
