Lenox Console Table
Console TablesThe Lenox Console is the piece I am most often asked about, and the hardest to describe, because it occupies a space between furniture and nature that no single reference quite captures. The base began not with a drawing but with a handful of stems pulled from the studio garden, laid across each other in a loose, spontaneous arrangement, and the question that followed was whether that quality of effortless, organic entanglement could be realised permanently in forged steel at full scale. The answer, after months of work, was the Lenox, a base of multiple sinuous steel lengths that rise from splayed, root-like feet, cross and weave around each other in a dense, knotted tangle at the centre before arching outward and upward to meet the glass top with the natural, unhurried elegance of branches reaching toward light. Every curve is unique, every intersection slightly different, the whole composition achieved by hand in our Somerset studio with no two pieces ever quite the same. Finished in bitumen on brown, the warm golden tones of the metalwork give the organic forms a luminosity that makes the piece glow from across a room, while the glass top allows the full extraordinary drama of the base to remain completely visible from every angle.
All pieces from our Somerset studio, are handmade to order to your exact specifications and available in bespoke sizes with a choice of finishes and tops.
