Lexington Console Table
Console TablesThe Lexington Console was born from a fascination with the work of the great abstract painters of mid-twentieth century New York, those vast, geometry driven canvases where rectangles of varying scale and weight were arranged in compositions of enormous tension and visual intelligence, each element in careful, considered dialogue with the others. The base translates that painterly language directly into three dimensions, a series of rectangular frames of differing sizes overlap and intersect in an asymmetric arrangement that is entirely deliberate and endlessly interesting, each frame a bold graphic statement that shifts in relationship to the others depending on where you stand and how the light falls across the gilded surfaces. The flat faced steel sections are finished in bitumen on brown, a warm, complex tone that glows with a depth and richness that gives the rigidly geometric composition an unexpected warmth and luxury, the hand applied finish ensuring that no two pieces catch the light in quite the same way. The limestone top floats above this extraordinary base with serene authority, its pale, clean surface providing the perfect counterpoint to the golden geometry beneath.
