Metropolitan Console Table

The Metropolitan Console shares its architectural DNA with the Metropolitan II, the same paired portal frames, the same disciplined vertical rhythm inspired by the great steel-framed towers of early twentieth century New York, but in this version the glass top changes everything. Where limestone grounds and solidifies, glass liberates, the transparent surface allows the eye to travel straight through to the golden framework beneath and beyond, the base becoming the undisputed subject of the piece rather than its support. Two paired rectangular frames, each one a precise double portal finished in bitumen on brown, sit beneath the glass with a clarity and graphic strength that is best appreciated from above, their geometric shadows falling through the top and onto the floor below in patterns that shift beautifully throughout the day. The overall effect is one of extraordinary lightness, a console of considerable visual presence that somehow manages to feel almost weightless, the gold and glass working together to create a luminosity that is genuinely uplifting in any interior. This is a designer console table that works as naturally in a minimalist contemporary setting as it does in a more layered and richly decorated room
