Finsbury Coffee Table

The Finsbury Coffee Table is a piece of pure, distilled elegance, an oval coffee table that achieves its considerable presence through the absolute quality of its proportions and the refinement of every detail rather than through any complexity of form. The oval frame, its full circumference worked with a fine hammered texture that catches the flamed bronze finish with a warm, mottled richness that glows particularly beautifully in low evening light, is carried by four tapered legs that fall to delicate points at the floor, their slenderness making the generously scaled oval top above appear to float with a lightness that defies expectation. A curved stretcher connects the legs at their midpoint in a gentle arc that follows the rhythm of the oval above, tying the composition together with a grace and fluency that makes the whole piece feel like a single continuous gesture. The toughened glass top sits flush within the oval frame, its transparency allowing the full elegance of the base to be appreciated from every angle, the eye travelling through the surface to the curved stretcher, the tapering legs and the floor below in a composition of extraordinary depth and clarity.
