Flute Console Table
Console TablesThe Flute Console takes its name and its spirit from music, specifically from the image of a group of woodwind instruments standing together, their slender bodies swaying almost imperceptibly toward each other as though responding to some inaudible vibration in the air. Six flat, blade like legs rise from a low plinth in a tight, rhythmic grouping, each one tapering to a sharp point at the base and curving gently, organically, as it ascends, no two at quite the same angle, the subtle variation giving the composition a looseness and naturalness that rigid geometry could never achieve. Viewed from the front the legs create a dense, layered frieze of golden forms that shifts and overlaps beautifully as you move along the length of the piece, the spaces between them opening and closing in a constant visual rhythm. Finished in aged gold, a surface of extraordinary warmth and vintage depth that speaks of decades rather than newness, the metalwork has a quality that makes the Flute Console feel like a discovered treasure rather than a newly made piece. The ebony granite top sits above this golden ensemble with definitive authority, its deep, near black surface the perfect foil to the warmth and complexity of the metalwork beneath.
