Liberty Console Table

The Liberty Console is a piece that exists entirely on its own terms, a work of pure sculptural conviction that happens also to function as a table, and one of the most radical departures from conventional furniture thinking that our studio has ever produced. Each of the two legs is a solid, waisted monolith of steel, broad at the base and top, dramatically pinched at the centre, that reads from the front as a clean, architectural support and from the side as a fully resolved sculpture in its own right, its curved silhouette referencing everything from the profile of an ancient Greek amphora to the shaped body of a musical instrument. The underside of the top surface curves upward at its junction with each leg in a smooth, continuous arc that recalls the keystone of a bridge or the springing point of a vault, a detail of extraordinary engineering elegance that makes the piece feel both inevitable and impossible in equal measure. Finished in deep black, the surface gives the steel a weight and solidity that is genuinely monumental, the slight sheen of the paint picking up just enough light to reveal the subtle curvature of every form. The Liberty Console is a unique console table unlike anything else available.
