Manhattan Demi Lune (no back legs) Console Table
Console TablesThis wall mounted interpretation of the Manhattan Demi Lune is perhaps the most theatrical version of the design, stripped of its rear legs entirely, the piece becomes something closer to a piece of wall sculpture than a conventional console table, projecting from the wall with a boldness and confidence that commands immediate attention. Two generously curved legs sweep downward from the central collar in a wide, graceful arc before splaying outward at the floor in a gesture of extraordinary elegance, the whole composition forming a shape that is at once architectural and organic, referencing the lyres and scrolled supports of the finest Regency and Empire furniture whilst arriving somewhere entirely its own. The central collar, that small but crucial detail that draws the two legs together at the midpoint, gives the piece a waisted quality that is genuinely beautiful and prevents the form from ever becoming purely geometric. Finished in Tudor brass, a warm, aged tone of considerable depth and character that catches the light with a mellow, antique richness, the metalwork feels as though it has always belonged in the grandest of interiors. The semicircular limestone top floats above with serene simplicity, its clean pale curve the perfect completion of a bespoke Demi Lune console table of genuine distinction.
