Bellevue Coffee Table

The Bellevue Coffee Table was designed around one of the most extraordinarily beautiful stones we have ever worked with, Arabescato Oro Rosso, a marble of such vivid, painterly drama that the design challenge was entirely one of restraint, of creating a frame that honoured the stone without competing with it for a single moment. The base is a clean rectangular structure of hammered steel rails, horizontal and deliberately calm, with a lower stretcher running the full length of the piece to give the composition a grounded, architectural quality. But it is the corner legs that reveal the true depth of the design’s ambition, each one formed from a hand-forged helical twist, the same sinuous, spiralling form that defines our Narwhal family, the wound steel catching the bitumen silver finish with a mesmerising, faceted quality that shifts and shimmers as the light moves around it, adding a layer of decorative richness and handmade craft that makes the piece endlessly rewarding to live with. This extraordinary detail sits in deliberate and beautiful tension with the calm horizontality of the rails above and below, the organic energy of the twisted legs amplifying the wild, painterly drama of the Arabescato Oro Rosso top, its swirling ground of deep burgundy, russet and mauve threaded with veins of grey and cream creating a surface of almost abstract expressionist power that is entirely unique to every slab.
