Lisbon Coffee Table

The Lisbon Coffee Table grew from a desire to bring two of the most elemental and enduring materials in interior design, forged metal and natural timber into a relationship of complete equality, where neither dominates and each one makes the other more beautiful by proximity. The frame is a clean, low rectangular box of flat faced hammered steel, its allover dimpled texture worked across every face of the apron and base rail so that the flamed bronze finish catches the light with a warmth and complexity that gives even this most disciplined of forms a real sense of life and craft. Within this dark metalwork frame the oak top is laid in a series of planks, their natural grain running the length of the table and their warm, honeyed tones glowing against the surrounding bronze work with a richness that feels entirely natural and entirely considered at the same time. It is a pairing that references the great tradition of the boatbuilder and the ironmonger working in tandem, wood and metal, warmth and depth, the organic and the forged brought together in a form of complete contemporary simplicity.
