Beaumont Console Table

The Beaumont Console is a piece about the line, not the straight line of architecture or engineering, but the living, breathing line of a draughtsman’s hand moving with complete confidence across the page, finding the most beautiful path between two points without hesitation or correction. Three slender legs, each one tapering with a gentle organic swell from the apron to the floor, splay outward with a quiet, assured elegance before being connected by a curved stretcher that arcs gracefully between them at floor level, a detail of extraordinary refinement that ties the composition together with the lightness and tension of a drawn bow. The rounded corners of the limestone top echo this softness of line, preventing any harshness of angle and giving the overall profile a continuous, flowing quality that is deeply satisfying from every viewpoint, front, side and angle. Finished in flamed bronze, the warm, deeply complex tones of the metalwork develop a beautiful iridescence that shifts throughout the day, the smooth, rounded surfaces of the legs catching the finish with a luminosity that feels almost liquid. The pale limestone top completes the composition with its characteristic natural quietness, its clean surface allowing the exceptional quality of the metalwork below to speak without interruption.
