De Vere Demi Lune Console Table

The De Vere Demi Lune Console is a love letter to one of the most enduring and graceful legs in the history of furniture, the cabriole, that gently swelling, double curved form that has been the hallmark of quality cabinetmaking since the early eighteenth century and that retains, even now, a power to animate a room that no purely geometric leg can quite match. Here the cabriole is reinterpreted entirely in hand forged steel, the familiar outward swell and inward taper rendered in flamed bronze with a warmth and fluidity that makes the legs appear almost as though they are in motion, poised, balletic, full of restrained energy. Four legs carry the semicircular limestone top with an ease and confidence that belies the considerable skill required to forge steel into such an organic, expressive form, each one finished with the same subtle texture that gives the bronze its characteristic depth and life.
