Portland Side Table

The Portland Side Table grew from an interest in the bold, geometric vocabulary of Art Deco architecture, those grand Portland stone facades of 1930s London, where every detail was considered and nothing was left to chance. The base is built entirely from flat faced square sections, assembled into a frame of satisfying geometric clarity, with a stepped stretcher detail at floor level that adds a layer of visual interest and a distinctly architectural rhythm to the overall form. Every surface has been worked by hand to create an allover hammered texture that softens the geometry just enough to remind you this is a piece of craft rather than engineering, finished in Tudor silver, a cool, complex tone that sits somewhere between aged pewter and weathered stone, entirely in keeping with the piece’s architectural references. The ebony granite top, with its deep, polished black surface, completes the composition with authority.

All pieces from our Somerset studio, are handmade to order to your exact specifications and available in bespoke sizes with a choice of finishes and tops.
