Deco Coffee Table
Coffee TablesThe Deco Coffee Table is an unambiguous love letter to the Art Deco movement at its most architecturally rigorous, those extraordinary interiors of the 1920s and 30s where the Greek key, the stepped cornice and the repeating geometric motif were applied with a confidence and discipline that has never been equalled in decorative design before or since. The apron and upper leg sections carry a repeating pattern of stepped, interlocking rectangular forms, a contemporary reinterpretation of the meander motif that runs continuously around the full perimeter of the piece, visible through the glass top from above and fully visible at eye level from every side, creating a table that is as much a decorative object as a functional surface. The four legs continue this geometric language downward, each one formed from a cluster of flat rectangular sections that interlock at the corners with the same crisp, angular precision as the apron above, so that the design reads as a single, completely consistent exercise in geometric intelligence from top to floor. Finished in a painted blackened bronze, the deep, cool darkness of the surface gives the graphic forms a dramatic authority and depth, the sharp shadows cast within the fretwork pattern deepening and shifting throughout the day. The glass top allows the full pattern of the apron to be seen from above, completing a bronze and glass coffee table of exceptional decorative ambition.
