Belmont Coffee Table

The Belmont Coffee Table is a piece that challenges every assumption about what a coffee table should look like, beginning not with the frame but with the stone, and asking what happens when marble is treated not as a passive surface to be supported but as an active, sculptural element in its own right. The Carrara marble top is cut with a bold stepped notch at one corner, its crisp geometric incision breaking the expected rectangular outline with a confidence that transforms the stone from a simple slab into something far more dynamic and interesting, the veining of the marble sweeping uninterrupted across the cut edge in a way that makes the incision feel entirely natural, as though the stone itself suggested the form. Beneath this extraordinary top, four pyramidal legs of hand worked metal from the floor in a formation that references both the monumental architecture of ancient civilisations and the bold geometric sensibility of mid-century modernism, each one a solid, tapering form of considerable presence and weight, finished in brass that glows with a warm, mellow richness against the cool white marble above.
